Buy Wedding Invitations | Why do I need to buy inner wedding envelopes?

The purpose of inner envelopes and how to use them

Some brides seem to have number of questions regarding the
wedding invitation inner envelopes. I will attempt to answer them here and to
give you an historical background as to their origination. The inner envelope
is a bit smaller than the outer and does not have any adhesive so it cannot be
sealed. This is the envelope that is lined if you should select "lined
envelopes." You have many color choices for your lining. Some brides want
the lining to match some color on the invitation itself, or match or coordinate
with the ink color she has selected for the invitation.

The outer envelope has the adhesive for sealing and this is the envelope which
is addressed and is the envelope which would contain your return address which
if you have it professionally printed is printed centered on the back flap. The
inner wedding invitation envelope only contains the guest’s title and last name
for example: "Mr. and Mrs. John Doe."

The way it got started, having an inner and outer envelope is this: The wedding
invitations
used to be delivered by hand. Your footman would deliver them to
your guest’s homes where they were accepted by servants who then would take
them out of the tattered outer envelope and hand the pristine inner envelope to
your guests. Since they had already reached their destination, the address was
not necessary, just the name of the invited guests.
