Buy Wedding Invitations | More questions answered about addressing your wedding invitation envelopes
We have received so many questions about the proper way to
address the envelopes for wedding invitations that I decided to devote another
post to that. In addressing the outer envelopes, use titles for names such as
Mr. and Mrs. or Dr. Do not use designations such as Ph.D. or M.D.
You do need to spell out Street and Drive, etc. but do not spell out the
numbers like 3198 Bennett Oaks Place unless it is short, aesthetically pleasing
and you want to do so. Normally they are not but that is up to you. Spell out
the city of course and the
state although is it also just as appropriate to use the two letter capitalized
abbreviation.
On your return address, to look professional, you really should have it printed
on the back flap by the company who prints your wedding invitations in the same
font as your invitation. The same rules apply although usually only the two
line address is printed (no names) although you can if you like. Here the state
is usually spelled out. If you have your calligrapher print the return address,
it still should go on the back flap instead of on the front of the envelope.
Tomorrow I will cover more about what names go where on the inner and outer
envelopes.
