Wedding Attire

There have been some very unique weddings. There’s been everything from the traditional formal weddings, to casual and even themed weddings.

There’s the Country theme where everyone dresses up in blue jeans and cowboy hats. There’s also the Fantasy Fairytale theme where people of all ages come dressed as princesses & princes. You name it, it’s probably happened.

Whatever the style or theme of the wedding, there’s always that one person who stands out like a sore thumb because of what they’re wearing. Perhaps you’ve been that person that everyone’s gawking at.

As a guest, if you’re not sure how to dress for a particular ceremony, it’s OK to ask the for more details.

Just know that clothes that are too revealing and street clothes are typically considered poor wedding etiquette, unless otherwise requested.

As the wedding organizer, if you’re having a unique ceremony, be sure the dress code is clear. If you’re having a blue jean barnyard hoedown, make sure people know not to wear fancy clothes.

If someone does show up under or overdressed, be polite, don’t make a scene and just be thankful they’re there.  Perhaps they had car trouble and didn’t have time to change. Or perhaps they couldn’t get off work in time to change, but they wanted to show you they cared. If you’re the guest and you know in advance that’s going to be the case, inform the bride or groom ahead to avoid awkwardness.

Stay tuned for tomorrow.
