Beware of that Wind!
Turns out the wind can be quite a pain in the neck during weddings. One video I recently saw, a tornado came out of nowhere without any warning while the wedding party and guests all conversed outside. This was an area that hardly ever gets tornados, so no one expected it. Luckily, it was just a minor tornado and no one in the wedding was hurt.
Of course there are also the typical embarrassing stories of the skirts and dresses flying up, exposing the bride and of course someone always catches it on video or snaps that camera at the perfect moment.
The one that really caught my attention was when one couple decided to have candles on the reception tables with the light dimmed to create a romantic atmosphere. As always, the reception organizers pre-lit the candles moments before the wedding guests were expected to arrive. That’s normal, but there was something else they did that anyone could have easily done. They realized the reception room needed some airing out because it had that stuffy stale room smell and the warmth of the candles was bringing it out even more. Well, a gust of wind blew some loose decorations over top of the candles, thus heating it up and catching it on fire. It only took seconds and the fire had spread faster than normal because more gusts of wind were fueling the fire. Thankfully no one was hurt and only one table burned up.
So the wedding etiquette tip of the day….Beware of that Wind!
