An Alaskan Wedding In A Swimming Pool!
One may think getting married in an Alaskan swimming pool this time of year is crazy, but that’s exactly what one couple did when they took the “plunge” last Saturday. Not to worry though, it was an indoor pool with an incredible view of surrounding terrain and wildlife.
The bride, Joanne Wainwright, a long time swimming fanatic, always stated she wanted to be married in the pool, assuming she as still living in Alaska at the time. Her groom, Mark Confer is also dedicated to physical fitness, with his passion being skiing. With all the snow in Alaska, why not? Both obviously creative and perfect for one another, decided to replace their “walk down the isle” with a zip down a 136 foot waterslide. I’m assuming the guests weren’t in the pool.
Even their wedding cake was the shape of a swimming pool. The tiny bride and groom on the top were on a diving board, getting ready to dive in. I like the symbolism it represents.
Oh dear, I guess this means now we have to come up with a new wedding etiquette guide. I can see it now, “Etiquette of Weddings in Swimming Pools”.
