Be Among The First To Be Married At Stonehenge In Australia
If you want to be one of the first people to have your wedding at Stonehenge in Australia, you may want to sign up now. Stonehenge in Australia, you ask? No, you’re geography teachers didn’t mislead you…the original Stonehenge really is in England. And no, they are not relocating Stonehenge like they did with the original London Bridge. But yes, there is going to be a Stonehenge in Australia too.
Ross Smith, an entrepreneur in Western Australia has chosen his next business venture to be the recreating of England’s original Stonehenge, on his own property, which he will call “The Henge”. He hopes to have it completed and opened on Dec. 21st, which is the summer solstice in the Southern Hemisphere. The idea is to attract thousands of tourists each year and charge an entrance fee.
Five months into the process, many granite stones have already been quarried and shaped for this massive $1.26 million project. The Henge will be approximately 110 feet wide and have 101 granite stones that will be arranged in an inner circle, an outer circle and have an alter in the center. The only difference (aside from being in Australia) will be the fact that people are actually encouraged to touch it and play around it. It will be open to weddings, other events and even include an interpretive center and a children’s playground.
Two thousand years from now archeologist won’t know what to think about this finding. ;0)
