Online Shopping For Your Wedding

Many brides are searching out hot wedding deals online, as 2009 could be the “Wedding Season of Savings.” Brides are looking for ways to cut costs while still having the wedding of their dreams. Online bridal shopping can be a great way to save, if you know the best way to go. Here are some of the hottest ways to have a dream wedding on a tight budget.

  • Try Ebay and other online auction sites. These sites are great for buying one of a kind items, such as a wedding dress or wedding jewelry. If you plan on using an auction site for buying wedding items, give yourself a lot of time in advance, to be sure you can get your items in plenty of time for the wedding. For wedding dresses and other widely variable clothing items, go a size up if the cut looks questionable. You can always have a dress altered down to a smaller size.
  • Compare online wedding vendors. With the internet, there is no reason to not have the best deals on the personalized items of your wedding. Affordable wedding invitations can be customized to your specific needs, and online vendors often take extra care to make sure all the details are exactly right. If you are nervous, allot extra time here too.
  • Explore your local online community. In many areas, there are Freecycle groups that are made up of people giving away their gently used items. You can find a wide variety of items here, from potential creative wedding decorations to wedding dresses. These groups can be valuable throughout your married life, as many household items are given away here too.

Wild and Wacky Wedding Photos

Sometimes, the best wedding photos are the candid, impromptu shots that take place at unexpected moments throughout your wedding day. Many wedding photographers offer journalistic photo packages alongside the traditional wedding picture sets, to give brides more photo options. Yet sometimes brides are looking for more unique wedding ideas to make their photos stand out.

Try out event wedding photography, where you and your wedding party go out and have a good time and get great wedding pictures as a result. Not as extreme as trash the dress pictures, event photography has a strong following, where you can have a blast while bonding as a wedding party.

At your rehearsal dinner, you can skip the formalities and relax with your family and friends. A wedding photographer can capture the fun times, and you can come away with pictures that reflect the real you.

At the wedding reception, you can play up the photography fun. Try photo wedding favors so that each guest can experience the less formal picture play. You can even include an old fashioned photo booth, to get truly unique pictures.

Even the day after the wedding can be full of wedding photo fun. Go to a fun place that you love to hang out, and get some funny and crazy shots at a place that is truly memorable to you and your groom. You also won’t have the stress of time constraints or keeping your wedding dress neat and clean on the day after.

What other unique wedding photo sessions have you encountered? Do you have some fun event photos planned for your wedding day?

Tropical Wedding Ideas

When the winter blues start kicking in, it’s time to think of the warmth of a tropical wedding. You may have a sunny destination in mind, or plan on bringing the heat of the tropics to your local wedding venue. Either way, you can have a lot of fun with sunny and tropical wedding ideas to bring out the fun in your wedding guests.

For destination weddings, Hawaii and Cancun are two of the best places to check out. With tropical locales, you can often get package deals on hotels and wedding venues to make your wedding more affordable. Be sure to send out your tropical wedding invitations at least 8 weeks in advance, and consider sending save the date cards as well to give your guests ample time to prepare.

To give local weddings a tropical flair, try out some unique tropical wedding favors. Look for delightful palm trees, flower leis, and margarita glasses to make everyone feel the wonderful allure of the tropics.

Try bold color combinations for a tropical flair as well. Coral and aqua are the traditional tropical colors, yet any fun and fresh colors can do well. Look for lime green, sunny yellow, and fruit punch pink to have a modern tropical wedding.

The best part of a tropical wedding is the reception. You can have a traditional luau with a hog roast and island music. Or for a more modern wedding, tone down the tropical wedding favors so they add just a hint of the island motif. Be sure to have a bar with beautifully mixed drinks and fruit juices to make your tropical wedding a success.

Four Weddings and a Mother of the Bride

When Cheryl Whitaker began dating her husband to be Jeff eight years ago, little did she realize that their combined four daughters would make 2009 “The Year of the Weddings.” Their blended family found love all at the same time, and the sparks began to fly in 2007. Now, with one wedding down and three to go, the biggest challenge Cheryl has is to find a unique mother of the bride dress for each ceremony. Finding affordable wedding invitations and unique wedding favor ideas for each wedding are surely high on her list as well.

The four weddings cover each season of 2009, starting with an elegant winter wedding on January 17 at the Newton White Mansion in Mitchellville, Maryland. Silver wedding favors would be an ideal match for nearly any winter wedding.

The next two weddings are very close together. The spring wedding will be on May 1, and summer will shine on June 17. The warmer months of the year hold a lot of wedding promise, from fun beach wedding invitations to graceful butterfly weddings.

Fall finishes up the year of the weddings, with October 24th rounding out the season. Autumn wedding favors highlight the rich colors of the season and bring warmth to chilly fall afternoons.

What makes these four sisters’ weddings even more special, is that Cheryl is making all of the wedding jewelry for each of the bridal parties. Using a silver base and Swarovski crystals, each set will be uniquely crafted by hand. What a wonderful wedding gift idea!

With the bonds of marriage in 2009 cementing the sisters’ friendship even more, this family has embraced their unique situation, and made the most of it with style and flair. Let’s hope they all have bright and successful marriages, and can depend on each other for support.

Green Wedding Lifestyles

Green weddings are one of the hottest upcoming wedding trends. Brides-to-be are finding all sorts of ways to make the earth a better place, while still having a dream wedding. One of the best thing about a green or eco-friendly wedding is that there is still a wealth of creative wedding ideas. Each green wedding is as unique as the happy couple themselves, and you can incorporate as many or as few environmentally sound wedding ideas as you would like.

One of the more fun green weddings that I read about was the wedding of Sarena Mueller and Basil Jones. Their green wedding was a natural extension of their earth conscious lifestyle. All of their wedding planning choices stemmed from their day to day lives, and were not forced or contrived at all.

Sarena grew up in a large family, and her mother had adopted a minimalist lifestyle by necessity. To have so many children at home, there was no room for excess. This conservationist attitude helped Sarena plan the wedding of her dreams.

Their wedding rings were passed down through their families. They chose to make their own affordable wedding invitations at a local copy store, to ensure that their money was being invested back into their hometown. The wedding attire for all was simple outfits that could be worn again, and Sarena donated her wedding dress to Brides Against Breast Cancer, so a woman in need could have a beautiful wedding dress.

A green wedding day is what you make of it. From green wedding favors to unusual wedding invitations, you can still have a dream wedding while considering your environmental impact. You may even do as Sarena and Basil did, and include three extra words in your wedding vows: reduce, reuse, recycle.
