Christmas Parade Wedding
One lucky couple in Bakersfield, California will be married during their annual downtown Christmas parade. Crystal Rustman and Roger Towns will have their wedding while riding on top of a float decorated by the Kern County Bridal Association.
Everything for the wedding will be provided by community stores who are sponsoring the event. The Christmas parade begins at 6pm this evening, as the bride and groom will live out all their fairytale fantasies.
This is the third year that the Christmas parade wedding event has been held, with much success. The entire community gets to take part in helping send off the couple into happily ever after. Volunteers can stop by to help decorate the float, or just to send their well wishes to the lucky pair.
After the parade, the newlyweds will have their own private reception, surrounded by family and friends. The only expense these two lovebirds have is the cost of their marriage license, everything else is provided by the wedding vendors.
This is a fantastic way for businesses to give back to the community. If other communities wanted to get in on the act, there are so many unique ideas that could be initiated. How about an Independence Day wedding, with fireworks to commemorate your special day? Or a Valentine’s getaway wedding? The possibilities are truly endless!
What sorts of wedding contests and unique wedding ideas would you be interested in? Has your community held any wedding-related events? Would you participate if your community did this, or would you rather handle all the details yourself?
