Comfortable and Safe Wedding Shoes
As winter approaches with its icy sidewalks and slushy roads, it is especially important to consider wedding shoe safety. You don’t want your wedding plans to include a trip to the emergency room. The best way to keep yourself safe on your wedding day is to prepare your wedding shoes well in advance.
Once you’ve purchased your wedding shoes, wear them at every opportunity around the house. The longer you wear them, the easier it will be to walk in them without being hurt at your wedding. In addition, you may find that you really don’t like them after all, and you’ll still have a chance to buy other wedding shoes.
In addition, add a small piece of rough tape to the bottom of your shoes for additional traction. This should help walking on slick surfaces, without detracting from the beauty of your shoes.
If your shoes don’t fit correctly, the best option is to return them for the correct size. If there are none available, add small pieces of tissue paper into the toe of the shoe, until your feet comfortably fit your wedding shoes. Again, practice walking in them until you can do it easily, without thinking about it much.
Make sure the straps fit closely around the ankle without causing blisters. Add additional holes to adjustable straps, if necessary. A small bandage placed on the back of your ankles will keep them protected on your wedding day.
Practice walking on stairs too, even if you don’t think you’ll need to. Even walking off a sidewalk onto a street can trip you up, and many wedding reception halls and churches do have some steps to climb. If you aren’t sure, scope out any places you will be going to on your wedding day.
