Consider Sending A “Save The Date” Reminder Card

Yesterday, I received a “Save The Date” wedding attendance card from my older cousin’s daughter. It even came with a magnet I can stick on my refrigerator door!
Most importantly, the “Save The Date” card says, “Invitation to Follow.”
This notification- which you see at the upper right of this post with names blacked out for privacy- is not only a great example of Wedding Etiquette but of courteous acknowledgement that many willing attendees of these events have busy schedules and must clear time out months in advance.
I’m one of those people. I frequently schedule business trips many months in advance. Many of these trips involve cross-country flights.
Yet if I am encouraged to, well, “Save The Date,” I will do my darndest to make sure I don’t have any date or time conflicts.
I also find this “Save The Date” useful for the fact that, as in this case, the formal wedding invitations probably won’t go out until two or three months before the wedding. That would place formal wedding invites for a November ceremony in August. And sometimes I already have my fall travel planned out by then.
If some of your wedding guests frequently find themselves with schedule planning and logistical commitments like I am, I heartily recommend a Save The Date.
