Flirting Bridesmaids and Groomsmen - Wedding Etiquette

Before making a decision on your bridesmaids and groomsmen, you may want to consider who you can trust not to make a scene when it comes to flirting or drinking too much. Then once you’ve made your decision, you may want to consider mentioning the “no flirt” and “limit your alcohol intake” rules to your bridesmaids and groomsmen. While most people know it’s common wedding etiquette knowledge not to fondle the guests, there are some that may need a little reminder.

Once of the biggest complaints that came up in a survey were that of the bridal party members obnoxiously flirting with the cute single guests. It didn’t help when some of the flirts had too much to drink.

In this particular situation the bridesmaid (who was always a little flirty anyhow) had a little too much to drink and lost all sense of personal space. She bounced from table to table giggling & shrieking with all the single men.  It became especially embarrassing when she moved onto the cute married men.  Not only was it embarrassing for the newlyweds, but it also made the guests feel extremely uncomfortable. Some of them even left early because of her. She was eventually escorted out and the friendship has been a little strained since then.

Another bride shared with me another story just as embarrassing. This time it wasn’t the bridal party flirting with the guests. It was a bridesmaid and groomsman flirting with one another. They couldn’t keep their hands off each other or stop mouthing flirtatious comments during the ceremony. It was so distractive that no one could focus on the newlyweds.

So please, please control the flirting and use some common sense.
