One of the more fun green weddings that I read about was the wedding of Sarena Mueller and Basil Jones. Their green wedding was a natural extension of their earth conscious lifestyle. All of their wedding planning choices stemmed from their day to day lives, and were not forced or contrived at all.

Sarena grew up in a large family, and her mother had adopted a minimalist lifestyle by necessity. To have so many children at home, there was no room for excess. This conservationist attitude helped Sarena plan the wedding of her dreams.

Their wedding rings were passed down through their families. They chose to make their own affordable wedding invitations at a local copy store, to ensure that their money was being invested back into their hometown. The wedding attire for all was simple outfits that could be worn again, and Sarena donated her wedding dress to Brides Against Breast Cancer, so a woman in need could have a beautiful wedding dress.

A green wedding day is what you make of it. From green wedding favors to unusual wedding invitations, you can still have a dream wedding while considering your environmental impact. You may even do as Sarena and Basil did, and include three extra words in your wedding vows: reduce, reuse, recycle.
