Homemade Wedding Treats Sweeten Your Reception

Many of us grew up with the delightful sights and smells of our mothers or grandmothers baking in the kitchen. From cookies to candies, the results were always delicious. Many brides want to carry over that childhood memory onto their wedding day, by asking their family to bake homemade treats for the wedding reception.

The women in your life would be happy to oblige. After all, they have baked dozens of cookies on holidays and for no special occasion. They would be more than happy to share their favorite recipes with your guests on your wedding day.

Of course, you probably have an idea of which recipe you would like them to make for your wedding. If you want to try something new, search through cookbooks or online to find the best goodies that would delight your wedding guests. Be sure to go over these recipes with your mother or grandmother, to ensure that the treats will be simple enough to prepare in large quantities.

You can even make the preparations a family affair. Recrute your sisters, bridesmaids, or other close family members to join in on all the baking fun. Make it a fun afternoon, and you will have an additional wedding memory to add to your scrapbook.

Store your wedding treats in attractive glass jars or festive tins, lined with ribbons. When your guests try out the tasty treats, they will share in the same homecooked memories that you grew up with as a child.

What are some of your favorite desserts that you grew up with? Share your family recipes here in the comments, to inspire others to bake their wedding desserts.
