Hors d’Oeuvres

If you choose to take formal group and wedding party photos after your ceremony, be sure that the guests receive hors d’oeuvres, or offer vegetable and cheese-and-cracker platters so they can nibble while they await your entrance.

The same goes for receiving lines. If you have a receiving line following your ceremony, arrange to have hors d’oeuvres or beverages offered to the guests who are waiting in line.

If hors d’oeuvres are being passed, a nice touch is to have the waiter hold a stack of napkins monogrammed with the bride and groom’s first names or new married name and wedding date. You can always use the left-over napkins for future entertaining at your new home.

If a meal is not served at your wedding and you offer only heavy hors d’oeuvres and cocktails (followed by cake or a dessert table, or course!), be sure that guests do not have to stand on their feet for too long. Even if you do not have formal table assignments, be sure there are enough seating areas so guests can visit and relax.
