How Late Is Too Late To Give A Wedding Gift?
It turns out that wedding etiquette has become a family tradition for the Post family. The great –great-granddaughter of Emily Post (famous for her etiquette books) has published a new wedding etiquette book titled “Emily Post’s Wedding Parties”. Anna Post’s new book specifically details the proper ways of hosting wedding parties and gatherings.
In the article I found today announcing this new book, there was a very good question posted that we have not discussed…
How late is too late to buy someone a wedding gift?
The answer is, it’s never too late. Mind you, I wouldn’t recommend putting it off too long because people could be really offended and he longer you wait the worse it could get.
On the other hand, some people don’t even notice. For example, I had attended a friends wedding a couple years back but my handmade gift wasn’t even close to complete. I figured they would be more offended if I didn’t show than not coming because I didn’t have their gift ready. However, when I walked into the reception hall I saw a massive pile of presents. I felt so guilty attending their reception and eating their food without a gift. About six months later I completed the gift and gave it to them. They were tickled pink but admitted they hadn’t even realized I didn’t give them a gift because they had gotten so many. Oh well.
P.S. I’m not saying you shouldn’t give them a wedding gift in the hopes that they won’t notice.
