Preparing for a Fire or Natural Disaster.
So yesterday in wedding etiquette we discussed preparing for a medical emergency. But how about preparing for fires and natural disasters such as earthquakes and twisters, etc.
Realistically, natural disasters are the last thing on most of our minds while preparing for our weddings. Besides, you’ll probably get funny looks when you ask a reception hall personnel what their natural disaster procedures are ;0) However if there was a recent quake or the weather looks questionable, then their less likely to think your paranoid ;0)
Now although the earthquakes and twisters aren’t so common a worry, it’s definitely important to ask about the fire procedures. I have personally seen a few wedding blooper videos where something catches fire from things like center piece candles and bamboo torches.
These are some common procedures to follow regardless of whether you’re in twister country and season or whether or not earthquakes happen where you are.
• Make sure all exit signs are working and visible.
• Make sure all doors and other exits such as halls are unblocked.
• If the weather looks questionable, you may want to consider having someone keep an eye and ear on the weather forecast and warnings.
• Have cell phones on silent but turned on with various people, incase of whatever kind of emergency.
Remember the Scout motto? Be prepared ;0)
Have a great day.
