Something To Think About When You Select Wedding Music
When it comes to weddings, few aspects- aside from the vows- are as memorable as the wedding music that is selected for the walk down the aisle.
Now let us just suppose for a moment that two close friends- say two former sorority sisters who have remained close in their post-college years- are getting married within a week or two of each other.
Now, let’s say one friend tells the other that she and her groom have selected a specific piece of music. Is it considered a gesture of tribute for you to choose that same music, or would that decision come across as imitative, copycat behavior and a bit crass as well?
Wedding etiquette expert Carley Roney leans toward the first option. But if choosing the same music leaves you a little hesitant, she thinks she suggests changing the arrangement.
One way to accomplish this, Carley says, is by hiring a musician or musicians that will play the piece used in the first wedding with different instrumentation for yours.
“If you opt for, say, classical guitar, it’s going to sound different than with a string trio or an orchestra, for example,” writes Carley. “Think about all your options, and remember: No matter how many weddings your guests might be headed to, you are only getting married once.
