Sticking Out Like a Sore Thumb at a Wedding?
Who would you rather be the guest who due to a communication flaw, dressed completely different than everyone else and stuck out like a sore thumb? Or the bride who forgot to tell everyone your wedding was a theme or a certain dress code, thus making you stand out more than you normally would? Not sure what I mean? Well here’s some stories I ran into.
The first example is of this poor unfortunate quest who was not informed that her posh friends wedding was casual. The wedding invitation gave no indication of this either. She (the guest) shows up in a sparkling formal dress, only to notice everyone around her were wearing casual clothes, including the bride in a simple sun dress. Talk about showing up the bride (unintentionally of course). Needless to say she felt like crawling under a rock and never coming out.
The second example is one on the flip side where the bride and groom were the ones who felt a little sheepish. They got so caught up in everything they forgot to tell ALL their guests it was a casual blue jean wedding. They realized this when all the guests started showing up in fancy clothes and there they were in blue jeans. Some of the guest who didn’t know the bride or groom even made comments about how rude those “guests” were to show up in jeans. Whoops. They were quickly hushed. Needless to say the bride and groom felt quite awkward at their own wedding. Luckily after an announcement of explanation, the quests understood.
