The Hideous Gift The Giver Expects To See When They Visit
Today I was going to continue on with the floral decisions of the wedding but I think I’ll save that for tomorrow because I saw something today that I wanted to share with you.
Today on MSN’s Lifestyle message board they talked about the best and worst wedding gifts. If you get a chance to get online and check it out, be prepared to laugh.
Have you ever received a hideous wedding gift and the worse part is that the giver is the kind of person that expects to see it when they visit?
If you’re lucky, you live far away from the gift giver and only have to bring it out when they visit. If you’re unlucky they arrive unexpectedly OR they live close and visit all the time.
Many people choose to re-gift it or even sell it on Ebay or at a yard sale. I’m not recommending what you should do but before re-gifting it, think about this… If it’s really that hideous, do you think the new owners really want it. It’ll put them in the same awkward situation you were put in. Also, you never know who knows who, so you also run the risk of the original gift giver finding out.
Before you sell it at a yard sale, is there a possibility the giver will see and visit your yard sale? Before selling it online, is it possible they will see it there too?
Wedding Etiquette tip:
Prepare yourself for that hideous, useless or bizarre gift and try not to show an ungrateful demeanor. Be gracious and creative.
