Website, Book Lets You Learn From Wedding Etiquette Disasters
Always on the prowl for Wedding Etiquette tips as well as bad Wedding Etiquette practices we all can learn from, I’ve just finished a quick click thru around a site called EtiquetteHell.com.
With thousands of Wedding Etiquette disasters submitted by readers, the site is the online companion to the book “Wedding Etiquette Hell: The Bride’s Bible to Avoiding Everlasting Damnation, ” by Jeanne Hamilton.
The site contains such colorfully named sections as:
- Bridezillas and Groomonsters
- Faux Pas of the Year
- Gimme, Gimme, Gimme
- Guests From Hell
- Tacky Invitations
- Ooops!
- Wedding Rugrats
- Just Plain Tacky
- Tacky Toasts
- Thank You Notes From Hell
- Tacky Vendors
- Wedding From Hell
- Wicked Witches of the Wedding
- Perfect Bride
- Bridesmaid Dress Incinerator
- Titanic Wedding Disaster
Rather than just simply serve as a vehicle for proving how clueless some people can be about Wedding Etiquette (and other etiquette, for that matter) the site’s stories provide us an opportunity to learn from the mistakes of others.
Want an example? On this page, there’s a post from a woman whose mother’s best friend offered to throw her a bridal shower. The problem was, that same friend invited some of her own friends. Lots of them. So the bridal shower guest list was tripled from the list that the bride gave her Mom’s friend. Worse yet, the bride wound up embarassed for not recognizing all those new people.
As I am sure someone once said, one of the best learning tools is to learn from the mistakes of others.
