Wedding Colors - Making Your Color Choice
A common problem that many brides face is what color scheme would be best for their wedding. Should they go for the darker colors, or is that too risky? Will going too light just cause problems with the wedding reception decorations? Just relax, and go through this checklist first to help you make your color choices:
1 – Where will the wedding being held?
Some examples include the typical church, an outside garden, or a hotel. For churches, red tends to be a dominate color used during a wedding. It’s practical, easy, and not too harsh on the eyes. Darker colors are more appealing, but going too dark may just not work because of the dimness inside the church. Red and white are a perfect balance to be considered.
For an outside garden wedding, you already have plenty of color provided to you by Mother Nature, so green may not be the best color choice as it may blend in with your surroundings. Browns and pinks would work very nicely, as well as yellow. These colors will compliment any flower scheme you may have, and they will not scream “LOOK AT ME”.
For a hotel, the best idea would be the opposite colors of whatever the hotel is decorated in. The last thing you’d want to do is feature the same colors, and feel as if you’re just an extension of the hotel. Your wedding is unique, and therefore so should be your color choices.
2 – What is the feel of the wedding you’re trying to go for?
Funky and fun would call for brighter colors and fun colors, such as the combination of purple and teal. But a more serene wedding would call for light greens and browns, more earthy tones. Are you going for elegant? Gold and white work very well for elegance and formality.
3 – Finally, take into consideration the theme of your wedding.
Do you have a particular theme going on, such as black and white? Or perhaps a Disney theme? A black and white wedding would call for just those colors, black and white. While a Disney theme may call for an elaborate set of pastel colors that will help portray your theme. Choose your personalized wedding favors to match your color scheme for a wonderful pulled together look.
