Wedding Etiquette Advise Rarely Heard Of…Check Those Mouse Traps
Today I have mice on the brain. I think it’s because I keep hearing something gnawing on things in my house. (Ever since the warm weather arrived and the kids keep leaving the doors wide open). Nevertheless, it inspired me to see what kind of stories I could find regarding mice, wedding and wedding etiquette. I was surprised to find yet another topic we never see in the wedding etiquette books.
These particular stories are an etiquette reminder and lesson to take note of if you are going to host a reception. In the first story I ran across, this couple had their reception at a relative’s farm. The barn provided a wonderful place for their wedding hoedown. The animals and smells had all been cleared and it was decorated quite tastefully. The only problem was they forgot to check the traps for mice and other rodents. So as guests found dead smelly rodents in the trap they lost their appetite for the food.
In another case, it was an actual reception hall that forgot about the traps. As guests walked in they noticed a rancid smell, but no one could seem to figure out where it was coming from. As it turned out, it was a dead mouse that had been left in the trap for about three days. P.S. A guest discovered it and caused a big deal. That reception hall had a hard time recovering from that drama.
Wedding etiquette tip: Remember to check your rodent traps before the big event.
