Wedding Invitations

Choosing what the mother of the bride is going to wear can sometimes be a matter of “choosing your battles” for both the bride and her mother. You’ll understand what I mean in a minute.

As the bride, for years you may have been dreaming of your perfect wedding with all the details right down to every last thread that even your mother is going to wear.  At the same time, chances are that your mother has too. Unfortunately tastes just don’t always coincide.  This is where the bride and her mom will have to put themselves in the others shoes and realize it is not that big of a deal. Bride, if your mom is freaking out over what you think she should wear, imagine if it was the other way around and mom was trying to make you wear a hideous outdated wedding dress. Mom, if you’re trying to make her wear that wedding dress, imagine if she insisted you wore something you consider hideous.

A quick story for you…My friend Karen had always imagined her mother in a blue sequence dress at her wedding. Her mother however no longer liked sequence. As a matter of fact she hated it.   When Karen was finally getting married, her mom wanted to wear what Karen called “granny” clothes. It was this orange and brown baggy dress. It would have certainly drawn attention as the ugliest dress.
After many tears of frustration, in the end they compromised.

Wedding Etiquette experts would agree, don’t be a drama queen. Listen to one another and be willing to compromise.
