Your Wedding Journal
Keep a wedding journal to keep track of the details of your wedding. There are many details of wedding etiquette to keep track of. First, record when get presents. Also, write down exactly what they gave you. If you’re like me there is no way you can keep it all straight. So put down the details of the gift. Record who gave it to you and a description of the gift.
Next, keep a record of when to send the thank you card. Make notes of your impressions about the gift so that you can write a personal message to each person. For example, “clear glass oval platter with etched flower designs - from Dan and Julie - perfect for entertaining.” Then when you go to write the card you can quickly review what it is. Thank them for thinking of you, for the gift itself, and write something about what you appreciate about the gift.
Enlist help from someone in the bridal party to help you take notes about each gift as you open it. This is for the gifts you open with friends and family after the reception. This is perfectly acceptable. Just don’t forget to thank the person who helps you - and others who contribute their time to make the day special for you.
